Singer Demi Lovato returned to the red carpet of fashion’s most prestigious event - the MET Gala 2024 following her “terrible” experience in 2016. For the event, Demi wore a strapless silver gown by Prabal Gurung, a Nepalese–American designer who worked with Alia Bhatt for her debut in 2023.

Demi made her debut in 2016 in a black and yellow Moschino sequin-covered gown. She was photographed alongside designer Jeremy Scott whose other muse was rapper Nicki Minaj. “This one celebrity was a complete b---- and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey," said Demi in a 2018 Billboard interview, without taking any names.
Eagle-eyed netizens deduced that her beef was with Minaj, who was even seen giving a major side-eye to Lovato on the red carpet.
"I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink," added Demi.
She further recalled texting her manager and leaving the gala for an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
Demi said, “I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on — millions of dollars of diamonds on in an AA meeting. And I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than the people at the Met Gala — fake and sucking the fashion industry’s d**k.”
Lovato has been in the limelight for most of her career, she starred in ‘Barney & Friends’ at the age of 10, and after a career-making stint on Disney Channel, 8 albums under her belt, Lovato has had time to think about what beauty and age mean in the music industry. The singer and actor has also been candid about her struggles with bullying, addiction, and mental health. She revealed that people would write “hate petitions” about her and would say hateful things on social media while she was in the throes of addiction. Now, Lovato has better ways to deal with hate online.
On the personal front, Demi got engaged to songwriter Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes. The couple, who made their relationship public in August 2022, got engaged in December 2023. Jordan, who met Demi in January 2022 when they co-wrote her song "Substance," proposed to her with bespoke pear-shaped diamond solitaire engagement ring. Following a 'personal and intimate proposal', Lutes and Lovato (who uses she/they pronouns) celebrated with their family at one of their favourite Los Angeles restaurants.
