Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla summoned for lyrics 'objectifying' women

Punjab Women Commission has summoned Punjabi singers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla over the lyrics of their songs Millionaire and MF Gabhru respectively. The commission claimed that the lyrics objectified women and glorified misogynistic ideas

Rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla have found themselves caught up in a legal soup due to their respective songs Millionaire and MF Gabhru. According to reports, the Punjab State Women’s Commission has initiated an inquiry into two singers over allegations of offensive language towards women in their songs. The commission has allegedly taken a Suo Moto action and has also formally written to the state’s Director General of Police (DGP), urging swift action against the two. As a result, both artists have been summoned to appear before the commission on Monday, August 11, 2025.

The commission expressed strong objections to the lyrics in songs of Karan Aujla and Honey Singh. They called the lyrics disrespectful and degrading to women. According to an Amar Ujala report, Raj Lali Gill, the  Commission Chairperson, has highlighted some serious concerns regarding the way women are portrayed in these songs.
