He was so touched by it that he had decided to remake it for the Indian audiences by buying its rights.

Ooty setting
The film is a suspense drama and stars Ayesha Takia opposite Rannvijay Singh (of Roadies fame). As reported 'It's a wrap' (Hitlist, April 12), Mod was shot in Ooty on a start-to-finish schedule earlier this year.

This is Nagesh's second remake after Dor, which was adapted from award-winning Malayalam film, Perumazhakkalam.

A source close to Nagesh reveals, "He loved the concept of the film. He thought it was badly executed and that he could do a much better job."

Close to original

But the Indian version has been kept close to the original in terms of the plot and characters. "Though the story remains the same, it has been more Indianised.

Only some changes have been introduced in Raghuvir Yadav's character, who will play Ayesha's father," adds the source.

Nagesh remained unavailable for comment.

The original
The story of Keeping Watch (2007) goes like... The sudden arrival of Han (played by Rannvijay Singh) provides a diversion from Ching's (Ayesha Takia) monotonous life as the proprietor of the family clock shop.

She falls in love with the young man who claims to be her high school classmate, but her bliss proves short-lived as he disappears just as abruptly.

Worried, Ching calls Han's parents, only to be told that he died many years ago.
