Abbas-Mustan's thriller sequel has got off to a flying start at the box office
Abbas-Mustan’s thriller sequel Race 2 is currently the talk of the town with an impressive opening at the BO. The film has managed to collect over Rs 47 crore in its opening weekend and in spite of things not going in its favour has managed to bring in decent collections.u00a0

On the other hand, Akaash Vani and Main Krishna Hoon are disasters. Race 2 has collected Rs 46.84 crore in its opening weekend with Friday — Rs 14.48 cr, Saturday — Rs 17.91 cr and Sunday being Rs 14.45 cr. The collections of Akaash Vaani and Main Krishna Hoon are extremely poor.
Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “The collections are decent and it depends on the weekdays collections to declare the fate of the film. There is no big opposition next week and the other films did not have any impact. It will add up to Race 2’s collections.”
He goes on to add that Abbas-Mustan’s film has not created as big an impact as its predecessor Race and the music was disappointing. “All these factors will ultimately make it a break-even project,” adds Atul.
Trade expert Amod Mehra states, “The film has been very good. Everyone in the trade said that the film was a disaster but the opening and the weekend was fantastic. The collections are a surprise as the music did not pick up, the promos were not as exciting and the promotions failed. Yet, the holiday period has helped it become a successful film. Main Krishna Hoon and Akash Vaani are total disasters.”
