The female inmates will now have once-famous televisionu00a0 actor Amar Upadhyay for company. The actor-turned-producer will enter the house this Monday.
Although there was speculation that Upadhyay, who was once quite the rage with audiences for his portrayal as Mihir Virani in the hit Balaji soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, was being considered as an add-on, the arrival of Kapoor alone when the show opened last week, led viewers to assume that it would be an all-girls affair this time round.
But with the exit of notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj's wife Nihita Biswas on Saturday night, the channel decided to rope in a male participant. It seems to be a tactic to infuse a new element of drama to keep audience interest alive. Upadhyay left for Karjat, where the inmates are housed, on Saturday afternoon. "I have no game plan in mind. I have watched the show all of last week and am aware of how everyone is behaving," he said. "Maybe I will have an advantage over the rest for a while, but then every day is a new day. So, I really don't know what to expect."
The actor hopes to add some spark to the show and is happy that the girls now have another man in the house to narrate their woes to.
Upadhyay quit the small screen almost a decade ago in pursuit of Bollywood. But an unsuccessful stint made him return to television and float his own production company.
