Twinkle Khanna and hubby Akshay Kumar have resolved to be there for the late Simple Kapadia's 15-year-old son Karan, in whatever capacity that he needs them. Twinkle's aunt lost her battle to cancer earlier this month. It is learnt that Akki and Tina will take on the responsibility of making Karan financially independent.
Says a source close to the couple, "The Kapadia clan (Dimple, her daughters Twinkle and Rinke, Simple and Karan included) have always been close-knit. Simple lived an independent life as a costume designer to the stars until her tryst with cancer. After a point following her diagnosis, Simple had to stop working. It was then that Twinkle and Dimple stepped in to care for mother and sonu00a0-- financially and otherwise. Karan and Simple had been staying with Dimple at her Juhu home for the last three years now."
Simple was married at one point and Karan was born of that union. The source adds, "Twinkle adored her maasi. Tina had been given her first pair of earrings by Simple and they both shared a very warm relationship. Today, Akshay and Twinkle are very close to Karan. In fact, all through the chautha, he was by Twinkle's side. Akki and Tina feel it is their responsibility to look after Karan now that his mom is no more. In fact, Akki thinks it's not a big deal as he's even supporting his late secretary Bali's family too."
Apparently, Twinkle and Akshay have even bought property in the name of Karan to make him financially independent when he reaches the age of 18. Says the source, "It's just two weeks since Simple's death. Right now, the whole family is still grieving about Simple's demise. They will figure it out in some time." Akshay Kumar and Twinkle remained unavailable for comment.
