Musical musings
After Kambakkht Ishq, I am looking out for a project that gives me the freedom to do something new. Most of the songs today are like assembly line productions. You can't make out the difference between two numbers. There's more emphasis on sound than melody, which wasn't the case before. I want to do an album that brings back the melody of Indian music. A few projects are in the pipeline, and you'll be soon hearing about them.
On the judge's chair
My experience as a judge has been fantastic. It's a great opportunity to discover talent from places across India. Being a musician, I can understand the struggles faced by them. Unlike judges in other reality shows, who get scripts, I have always spoken out freely, without mincing words.u00a0
Favourite singers
Many talented singers have come up lately. I like Javed Ali's voice as it has a nice spiritual quality to it. Aatif Aslam and Shafaqat Amanat Ali are equally wonderful singers. I like Shilpa Rao and Mahalaxmi Iyer among the female voices.u00a0
Bachcha party
Well, my elder daughter Anmol is right now in the UK, doing her further studies. She sang a song for the film Teree sang, which was a huge hit. I hope that she continues her music career along with her studies as she's a fabulous singer. As a musician, I love her voice and she's been getting a lot of offers to sing. My other daughter, Adah is doing her fashion designing.
My five favourite compositions
Baazigar O Baazigar
Churake Dil Mera
Aisa Lagta Hai
Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha
Sau Dard Hai
Hai Mera Dil
