Singer-turned-actor Babul Supriyo has started shooting for his Bollywood debut directed by debutant Sameer Tiwari
Speaking from the location shoot in Bangalore, he says, “It’s a slapstick comedy. I have begun with a bang as I essay a gun-toting character! I have a suited booted look with dark glasses. Though it is a grey role, there is a comic touch to it.”

As reported ‘Main bhi hero’ (Hitlist, December 10), the singer was always keen to act. After having done Bengali films, the singer turned to B-Town. He has no qualms not playing a hero but a character role. Babul is also aware that not many singers made it as actors. “I am taking very small steps on the acting front.”
On the sets he is having fun shooting with co-stars Arshad Warsi, Soha Ali Khan and Jaaved Jaffery. On turning actor he says, “Nowadays Bollywood doesn’t need singers who can sing. The better the singer, the lesser the work he or she has. So there is no harm in trying new avenues like acting.”
