Earlier this month, Sachin Tendulkar added another feather to his cap by turning singer with the single, 'Cricket Wali Beat'. Watching the Master Blaster take to the mic would have surprised music and cricket aficionados, but Sonu Nigam, who crooned the track with Sachin, wasn't amazed with the latter's playback skills. "I was not surprised to see Sachin sing in the right pitch. We didn't even have to use auto-tuner for him," says the singer.
Sonu admits that while Sachin was initially hesitant, he made it a point to make him comfortable. "Many people listen to music, but can't understand the sur, leave aside singing in front of the microphone, [but that was not the case with Sachin]. He was a little shy upon my arrival at the studio, but I made him Comfortable.

Shameer (Tandon, composer of the track) and I helped him through the dub," he says, adding that he was able to break the ice when they started shooting the video for the track. "The chemistry is evident on screen. Sachin was quick to pick up the nitty-gritty while recording."
Talking about his debut as a singer, Sachin says, "I never thought I'd venture into singing. Getting the opportunity to sing alongside Sonu was amazing." The duo share a mutual admiration for Lata Mangeshkar. "We spoke about how Sachin is the proud owner of the handwritten lyrics of Tu Jahaan Jahaan Chalega that Lataji wrote while recording the song decades ago," says Sonu.
