The event focuses on raising funds and creating awareness for the upliftment and empowerment of the low-wage migrants from India and Sri Lanka who are hired as household help and labourers. The aim is to help create enough awareness about the current scenario to help them create a better tomorrow for them.
Talking about Jacqueline’s support to the cause, a source says, “She has always been an advocate of equal opportunities for people irrespective of their caste, creed, race and financial positions.
The cause is very close to her heart as it involves people from her birthplace (Sri Lanka) and her work place (India). As she is extremely selective about what she lends her support to, this cause is what she really feels about. The reason she is going all out to further it.” There are also talks of a fund-raiser being planned that the starlet is personally looking into.
Adds the source, “Jacqueline feels she can provide her voice to those who can’t probably use their own to highlight the conditions of the labourers from the subcontinent in the country.” Jacqueline who has finished shooting for her next Abbas Mustan’s thriller sequel specially took time off to be in Bahrain to be a part of the cause.u00a0
