"Shahid had given a thumbs up to the script initially, but now, he is not too confident about it. After the first day of shoot, he felt that his role wasn't powerful enough. He then conveyed to the director that he does not want to continue working in the film," reveals an insider.

While many attribute the debacle of Shahid's last outing, 'Shaandaar' (read box office report), to this decision, a source close to the actor says, "The shoot for 'AK vs SK' began two months before 'Shaandaar' released, so it has nothing to do with the box office result."

The makers had roped in filmmaker Anurag Kashyap to play the antagonist opposite Shahid's character, with the two playing themselves — Shahid as SK and Anurag as AK.

Shahid remained unavailable for comment while a unit hand says, "Motwane is still trying to convince him to reconsider his decision. He just might change his mind considering that they share a good rapport with each other."
