Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Hrishikesh Mukherjee who started his career as an assistant director to Bimal Roy ventured into films with 'Musafir' in 1957.

He never portrayed glamour or largeness in his films yet the simplicity and realistic approach made him one of the most popular directors of his time.


On his death anniversary, we remember the magic of his films which have not faded with time.

'Anari'
After 'Musafir', Hrishikesh got an opportunity to helm 'Anari' in 1959. Starring Raj Kapoor and Nutan, the film was a critical and commercial success.AnariPicture courtesy Jagran Post

'Anand'
Hrishikesh Mukherjee fondly known as 'Hrishida' made what is considered his masterpiece 'Anand' in 1971. This classic film gave a complex but compassionate look at the balance between hope, fear, life and death and saw Rajesh Khanna's greatest performance.AnandPicture courtesy Jagran Post

'Guddi'

'Abhiman'

'Khubsoorat'
'Khubsoorat' starring Rekha and Rakesh Roshan was one of the film of its kind. The film in which Rekha played a bubbly girl who believed in speaking one's heart and breaking the rules sometimes, won 1981 Filmfare Best Movie Award.
