As the Mumbai Heroes gear up to wage war against their Southern counterparts

In a league of his own

If you've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms after the IPL, you can count on our filmstars to see you through it. The Celebrity Cricket League brings to you electrifying drama, nothing short of a Bollywood sequence. As the Mumbai Heroes gear up to wage war against their Southern counterparts, CS talks to Aftab Shivdasani about his love for the sport:

Star players
Well, we're very serious about our matches, because we obviously want to win. All of us make time from our film shoots to make it for the net practice. And we're a team with a lot of potential. I think Ritesh (Deshmukh) is a great all-rounder as is Apoorva Lakhia. We're really looking at CCL as a job where we need to perform. After all, we're drawing a salary from it.

Who: Aftab Shivdasani
What: Talking about his love for cricket
Where: At his Bandra residence

Having a ball
I've been playing cricket since I was three. And I'm no different from any other Indian ufffd I love the sport and follow it as much as I can. And since I took to it at a very young age, I'm fairly good at it too. In fact, at one stage I really wanted to play cricket professionally. But then I realised that I wasn't good enough and got into acting. I'm glad to have gotten an opportunity like CCL, which offers me the best of both worlds.

The game's over
It's unfortunate that we've had such an overdose of cricket, because that's only diluted the charm of the sport. The World Cup was as good as it gets, but the IPL didn't hold our attention as much. And the ongoing West Indian tour is getting even lesser eyeballs. I do watch a match once in a while, but it's not the same as watching the World Cup.

Having a field day
Sachin (Tendulkar), (MS) Dhoni and Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) make it to my cricket hall of fame. I have a great deal of respect for Sachin for the genius that he is, I think that Dhoni is a fantastic captain and Yuvi happens to be a buddy. In fact, I'm good friends with many cricketers, but am closest to Sreesanth and Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh).

When I was in Bangalore for the CCL, I ended up hanging out with Sreesanth a great deal. We did everything that two young, single guys would enjoy doing. Jokes apart, I don't know about his relationship status, because we don't usually have that kind of talk. We just have fun!
