In blue waters

Actor Vivan Bhatena and wife Nikhila Palat love travelling. So much so that in the last one year they've managed to cover London, New York, Thailand and recently Maldives. A short getaway, Vivan shares his memories from this most relaxing and serene land -- Maldives.

Colourful waters
Our room was built on stilts with wooden steps taking us directly from our room into the ocean! The ocean waters are remarkably blue and completely clear; you can see the fish in all their resplendent colours. It was a completely unforgettable experience.

On the rocks
There's a variety of water activities to participate in. The most exciting part was when we got to swim alongside fiveu00a0 feet long sharks! Then once we were standing at the beach and all of a sudden a big rock in the middle of the water started moving. It then rose out of the water and we realised that the rock had an eye. Much to our glee, it was a giant octopus. The local inhabitants there seemed to be very casual about it saying that the octopus resides there.u00a0

Diving wreck
One of the main attractions of the island is a shipwreck off the shore. It is a major diving site. We too decided to go check it out as we found out that people from all over the world come to this point for diving. You have to board the shipwreck and then dive from there. The coral reef is justbeautiful -- like a different world in the water.

Dil maange more
Unlike other travel destinations, Maldives has a lazy feel to it. So now whenever I want some peace, I start thinking about making a trip back to Maldives.
