Everyone was enjoying themselves so much that no one missed Kat's presence."
We wonder where Katrina was while the party was on was she with new SMS buddy John Abraham who was nursing a broken leg (read on page 14) at home the same night (while girlfriend Bipasha Basu is away shooting in Goa)? Your guess is as good as ours!
Having the last laugh?
John Abraham refused to step into the role of a father played by Ed Harris in the remake of the Hollywood film Stepmom.
Arjun Rampal (father to two lovely girls) has no qualms about playing 'daddy' and has now been pencilled in for this Karan Johar production.
Remember how every actress from Twinkle Khanna to Urmila Matondkar refused the part of the mother of a eight-year old in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?
The part was eventually essayed by Rani Mukerji and it catapulted her into the big league overnight. And all the actresses who'd refused the part bitterly regretted their decision. Don't they say history repeats itself?
The Movies I Loved Growing Up
David Dhawan
The comedy director with a streak of No 1 titled films to his name, reveals his own pick of number one flicks...
Meghe Dhaka Tara: Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak's black-and-white movie changed my perspective towards cinema. I saw it as a student at the Pune Institute when I joined it in 1974.
I was a student of editing but the film made me aware of all aspects of the craft. It was a serious film that made me cry. After that I focussed on filmmaking. It's a great film for a student to watch.
The Apartment: I love all of Billy Wilder's films but my personal favourite is The Apartment. He's a superb director and his narration is so easy.

I love the way he tells the stories of the three couples whose lives get entangled. In fact, there are glimpses of the film in Anurag Basu's Metro.
Shawshank Redemption: This 1994 American prison drama film is written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.
The story is about Andy spending nearly two decades in a fictional prision and his friendship with a fellow inmate. It's one of the most real films I've ever seen.
It's a three-hour film but a journey you can't get up from. It is also one of the best jail flicks I have seen.
Amar Akbar Anthony: I arrived in Mumbai to make my mark as a director in 1976 and begin my journey into the world of comedies.
I adore Manmohan Desai he's my guru. My cinema has been influenced by him. I didn't have a guru but Manmohan Desai's brand of entertainment has guided me as a filmmaker.
Amar Akbar Anthony taught me what entertainment is all about.
A bout de souffle (Breathless): Jean Luc Godard's first film (1960) has a relatively simple story but is one of the finest films in terms of editing.

It introduced a pattern of editing called jump cuts and as an editor, I simply loved it.

A bitchy bird from B-Town who flits in and out of Salman Khan's house called us to say, "Katrina never admitted to her relationship to Salman, so now why is she proclaiming from rooftops that her pictures are hanging on his walls?
To prove that they are still together. That doesn't say anything. Because the biggest pictures in Khan's house are that of Aishwarya Rai!
