Kangana Ranaut has sent a legal notice to the PR firm that was working for her until three months ago, accusing them of circulating negative stories about her.

The notice that was sent by the actress’ lawyer to the publicity agency last week reads: "The representatives of your company out of bitterness then malafidely, mischievously and intentionally started spreading various false and absolutely misleading stories against my client to the media therein trying to cause serious damages to my client’s name, image and reputation (sic)."

It is said that the actress had warned her publicist at least twice against spreading canards, but when negative stories about her continued to be flashed in the media, she decided to take legal action.

The notice further reads, "My client has sufficient proof which prima facie suggest that such stories are being circulated by the representatives of your company… on behalf of my client (I) call upon you to immediately stop indulging in such mischievous and malafide acts failing which I have been given peremptory instructions to immediately file both civil and criminal case of defamation against your company as well as initiate other appropriate proceedings at the risk, cost and consequences of your company."

While Kangana was not available for comment, her lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, says, "My client has been deeply disturbed by the false and misleading stories being circulated about her on public platforms and media, by people with malafide intentions and ulterior motives.

My client, who is now under constraint to protect her name, image and reputation, has duly addressed a notice through me to the PR firm for defamation."

The PR firm chose not to comment on the issue.
