Not one to publicise her philanthropic endeavours, Katrina Kaif found herself attracting attention when news of her visit to a rural institute hit headlines in March. Now, mid-day has it that the actor has been providing financial support to the kids of Mountain View School in Tamil Nadu, an institution her mother Susanna Turquotte has been associated with as part of charitable trust, Relief Projects India (RPI).

A source tells mid-day that Kaif has been frequently contributing a chunk of her earnings from films and reality shows — including Dus Ka Dum and Kaun Banega Crorepati — to the school. "Katrina loves the work her mother is doing and posts about it on social media sometimes. However, she doesn't like to bring her contributions to attention. Since she is busy with her film commitments and hence cannot always visit the place, she donates money," says the source.
RPI has been actively involved in furthering the cause of underprivileged children. "They also organise haemoglobin checks for nursery kids. Their staff follows up to ensure the children get the required treatment. The English-medium school provides quality education to poor villagers children, who would, otherwise, not be able to afford it. In the past, she has also done nursery rhyme voice-overs with AR Rahman for children of the school."
