Lara turns over a new leaf

A new film, a new career as producer and marriage, Lara Dutta has entered a new phase of her life. The actress believes that when the time is right, all good things come together. Not one to shy away from reality, Lara talks to CS about all things dear to heru00a0-- her career and her personal life:

Who: Lara Dutta
What: Talking about the new things in her life
Where: At a studio in Bandra

Busy bee
I'm busier now than ever before. I think when the time is conducive for good things to happen, the stars get aligned and everything comes together really well. But yes, you have to be prepared as opportunity doesn't knock on your door again and again. And, I've never shied away from challenges. I have to say that though life hasn't changed much on the personal front, being a producer has been a huge learning experience. I'm learning the ways of the industry all over again even though I've been working here for the last eight years.

Solo check
Yes I've been a part of quite a few multi-starrers. But you tell me how many films these days have a solo hero and heroine? Ninety per cent of the films made today have a huge cast and I'm not that stubborn to wait for a solo role to come my way. I love the craft and I've played every character with their own quirks. But I'm not so foolish to want or even hope that every film of mine becomes a hit in the box office. Also, I don't think I've had huge bumps in my career, I've been pretty consistent. And the best part is that I've worked with people whom I genuinely like and with whom I wanted to work. I'm having fun and when the end result of all your efforts pay off, the highs and lows don't really matter.

Hubby and I
Like I said before, life hasn't changed much since marriage. I've been living in Mumbai on my own and running my own house for eight long years, so managing a marital home isn't tough. Yes, with our work commitments, especially Mahesh's tennis schedule, we do not get to move about much, but we make sure we take out time for ourselves. Both of us love travelling, and whenever we can, we pile our three dogs in the car and head off for short spins. A couple of months ago, we'd gone to Maldives as well as Bali. They were wonderful breaks to grab some peace and quiet.
