A source said: "Asha is also doing the playback for Maaee, but at the same time she was keen that her sister also be a part of the project. The only way to get her on board was to request her to sing. Maaee's producer Subhash Dawar and director Mahesh Kodiyal, too, were keen that she lend her voice to the film."
Bhosale said, "Lata didi has agreed to sing and I am very happy." Dawar too confirmed the news, "It was a joint decision to approach Lataji and she readily agreed. It is an honour to have her render Maaee's title track. Ashaji convinced her to be part of it."
Sukhwinder Singh and Amit Kumar have also crooned for the project. Maaee was announced in March and at that time Asha announced the project to be a way of reinventing herself. After singing and doing stage shows besides running her restaurant business all over the globe, she felt she could try her hand at acting too!

Sibling rivalry
Though Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale were both accomplished singers, according to industry buzz Asha always used to get a raw deal. Living in the shadows of her illustrious elder sister, who got all the plum assignments, Asha was left singing for supporting actresses. But Asha proved her mettle by singing a variety of songs and by reinventing herself. Sai Paranjpye's 1998 flick Saaz starring Shabana Azmi and Aruna Irani was rumoured to be based on Lata-Asha's life as it took on the subject of two singing sisters and their professional rivalries.
