The Indian tiger (Panthera tigris) or Royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is a subspecies of tiger native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. According to recent estimates, there are 1,411 tigers in India.u00a0

It has been the national symbol of India since 25th century BCE when it was displayed on the Pashupati seal of the Indus Valley civilisation. It represented the Yogi Shiva's people.u00a0

Indian tigers are found in 37 reserves spread across 17 Indian states.u00a0

Recently, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was appointed as the Honorary Wildlife Warden of Jim Corbett Tigers Reserve Park in Uttarakhand.
