Love U Mr Kalakaar - Film review

Love U Mr Kalakaar
U; Romantic Comedy
Dir: S Manasvi
Cast: Tushar Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Ram Kapoor, Madhoo, Jai Kalra
Rating: **

Packaged exactly like a Rajshri film (scenic Ooty, chirpy conversations, lovers tiff, etc) the story revolves around Sahil (Tusshar) a cartoonist who falls in love with a much richer girl Ritu (Amrita) who's the daughter of businessman Deshraj Diwan (Ram).

The lovebirds plan to marry, but invoke the wrath of Diwan who challenges Sahil to work in his company and turn around profits in three months time. Wanting to prove himself he agrees, but only to meet one major hurdle after another. Most of the film revolves around the different challenges Sahil faces and how he tackles them.

The biggest drawback of the film is the half-baked script. While it does create some drama it fails miserably to connect with you on any level. It's like having the correct utensils but failing to cook an appetizing dish. Also the pace is a big speed bump as it goes into a sluggish second half. However, performances from the lead pair salvage the plot at many a times.

Tusshar is sincere and has a natural affable charm that he uses effortlessly. His pairing with Amrita is fresh and they look good together. Supporting characters are decent, with Ram Kapoor standing out and delivering when required. The music should have been better as none of the tracks stay with you for long. Overall, the direction is weak and the production values could have been much better. Watch LUMK only if you are a die-hard Rajshri fan.
