After three back-to-back films with Abhishek Bachchan, director Mani Ratnam wants Ranbir Kapoor for his next Hindi film.
The maverick moviemaker is currently wrapping up Raavan with Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and will move to his next film with Ranbir in the lead as soon asu00a0 Raavan (now in post-production) releases on June 18.
Coming-of-age tale
In fact, Mani had shown keen interest in working with Ranbir right after Saawariya. The two had spoken about a project, which got postponed as Mani got busy with Raavan. But now those talks will result in a film. Though sources close to the actor say it's too early to talk about the project, the news from Mani's front is that the film written by Rensil d'Silva (who also wrote Raavan) is a coming-of-age story about a young NRI in London.
After pending releases
As soon as Ranbir finishes theu00a0 intensive promotion work for his new release Raajneeti,u00a0 Mani will narrate the scipt to the young actor. RK has, incidentally, also greenlighted his best-friend Ayaan (Wake Up,Sid) Mukerjee's nextu00a0 film which is in the scripting stage. As for the prestigious Mani project, the filmmaker's spokesperson says, "It's too early to talk about it. Right now Mani Sir and the entire team is focusing on the release of Raavan."
