The remake of the 1980 film, 'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai', is in trouble. It has been six months since the shoot of the remake was completed, but the project has no takers. The film is languishing in the cans due to a paucity of funds.

A while ago news came in that the film will get a studio backing, but progress on that front seems to have failed. Producer-director Soumitra Ranade is now resorting to crowdfunding to raise Rs 30 lakh for the project. The two-month campaign will run on a funding platform from June 28. The money collected will be utilised to complete post-production, animation and VFX of the film.

Says Ranade, "It was a challenging film to remake. I could pull off shooting as the actors worked for free. I have put in whatever money I could manage, but there is lot more to do till the film releases."

The film, centered on the angst of a common man, comprises Nandita Das, Manav Kaul, Saurabh Shukla, Kishore Kadam and Omkar Das Manikpuri in pivotal roles. The original, considered an iconic film, starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil.

Ranade earlier directed 'Jajantaram Mamantaram' (2003) starring Jaaved Jaffrey and Joy Fernandes.
