Narendra Modi
If reports are to be believed then Paresh Rawal is all set to play the role of Narendra Modi in a biopic produced by Mitesh Patel. The journey of the Gujarat chief minister from a tea stall vendor to India’s prime ministerial candidate is the stuff dreams are made of. Modi’s life as a politician has been an eventful one, which makes it interesting enough to be shown on celluloid. Rawal, who earlier played the role of Vallabhbhai Patel in the film, Sardar, will reportedly undergo a look test next month. The fact that the actor shares a good rapport with Modi should hopefully help him in preparing for the character. We should expect some good dialogues in the film, given Modi’s talent for oratory.

Lokmanya Tilak
The Marathi film industry is making biopics on the lives of famous Maharashtrians like Dr Prakash Baba Amte, Tatya Tope and Savitribai Phule to name a few. So, how could Lokmanya Tilak be left behind? A teacher, social reformer and lawyer, Tilak was one of the first popular leaders in India’s freedom struggle. Actor Subodh Bhave, who who was appreciated for his work in the film, Balgandharva will play the role of the iconic leader. Nikhil Advani will be producing the film. Apparently, the script has been approved by Dr. Deepak Tilak who is the great grandson of the great man.
Indira Gandhi
Known as the Iron Lady of India, Indira Gandhi’s dramatic life has been a subject of interest for many filmmakers. In 2009, it was reported that US-based filmmaker Krishna Shah was planning to rope in leading Hollywood actors like Tom Hanks, Helen Mirren and Tommy Lee Jones for cameos in a film titled Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story. Madhuri Dixit was apparently zeroed in to play the role of Indira Gandhi. In 2010, it was rumoured that Priyanka Chopra was being considered for the part. In 2012, it was reported that Vidya Balan is being considered for the role. There’s another piece of news doing the rounds about a South-Indian filmmaker planning a biopic on Indira Gandhi, with Susan Sarandon in the lead. Well, whosoever plays Indira, we are sure it will be the role of a lifetime.
Bal Thackeray
Bal Thackeray was known for his charismatic personality. From a cartoonist to a firebrand political leader, Thackeray was someone who always spoke his mind. Earlier this year, reports were being circulated that his followers wanted a biopic to be made on his life. Mahesh Manjrekar was apparently the director of choice. However, there are no confirmations on the same. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta too had reportedly expressed a desire to make a film on Thackeray. As far as the lead role goes, we can’t seem to think of anyone else than Big B to fit into Thackeray’s role.
