The rumours about Ramu recreating the Sarkar saga with Ranbir Kapoor can finally be put to rest. It's not a saga of crime that Ramu is recreating with Ranbir.
Ramu is Romancing The Stone with Ranbir. That's the 1984 romance-fantasy caper that Ramu wants to remake with Ranbir playing the rakish Michael Douglas role.
Admits Ramu, "We have met and Romancing The Stone was one of the ideas that we exchanged. Ranbir seemed enthusiastic about it. But it won't exactly be Romancing The Stone. Only the core of its idea will be taken."
Though Ranbir has done a fantasy-romance of sorts in his debut film Saawariya he has never done a rugged mountainous caper before.
Interestingly, Ramu was to earlier adapt another Robert Zemeckis film Back To The Future based on the theory of time travel with Shah Rukh in the lead.
