Last week, the buzz was that Delhi-6 director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra was planning to make his next on the legendary love story of Mirza Saibaan with Sonam Kapoor. Now another B-Town maker Ajit Pal Mangat (who directed Victory) insists that he has been working on the same project for over three years.

Not the first time

A source reveals, "This is not the first time two makers are having a go for the same historical figure. As many as five different movies were made on Bhagat Singh and three of them even released on the same date."
It took a backseat

Ajit confirms, "I have been working on the film for the last three years. I was meant to make this film before Victory but as it was a big project, I wanted to be done with Victory first. I wrote the script with Baldev Gill and have got it registered with the Writers' Association here in Mumbai as well as in the States with WGA. While planning this film, I was in talks with one of the biggest Bollywood actors but as he was already doing a period film, I started work on Victory."

When quizzed if he plans to talk to Rakeysh he says, "No. Why should I talk to him? He is from the advertising world like me and is an intelligent maker.

I just wanted people to hear that I am doing something like this too and I am not coming out with this news because Rakeysh is making a making a film on the same story line. I have a big Hollywood production house making my project and I working on it currently, I also have three different titles under my name booked with the producers' associations."
