"If I weren't a composer, I would be a cricketer, an umpire or even a cricket pitch curator. Cricket has taught us to be sporting in life," says music director Wajid, of the Sajid Wajid fame.
The brothers, who had composed the anthem for the Kings XI Punjab, are as passionate about cricket as any Indian can be. With the World Cup fever in full swing, CS puts the victorious Dabangg pair on a different wicket:
Childhood passion
The brothers are cricket crazy since childhood. Sajid says, "Wajid used to bunk his riyaaz for cricket. I used to warn him that he would get beaten by dad if he was found playing cricket during riyaaz time. He used to be a fair kid, but tanned his skin playing in the sun. We recollect breaking innumerable windows in our society in Juhu Scheme. In fact, we used to remove glass panes from flats and stack them in a place. So, when someone complained of a broken window, there was a prompt replacement (laughs out loud)."

Heroes on the pitch
Both the brothers back the Indian cricket team to the hilt. "I feel that Dhoni is a superb captain while Virender Sehwag is a bekhauffu00a0 (fearless) player," says Wajid. The duo adore Sachin Tendulkar, Sir Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, Kapil Dev and Yousuf Pathan. "We have had the pleasure of interacting with Brett Lee who is also a good musician. If God wills, we will do something with him in the future," adds Sajid.
The duo has travelled to Sharjah, South Africa and Nagpur to watch the games. "Previously, we used to pool cash for the tickets, nowadays we get passes at times. I remember, during our IPL trip to South Africa, I asked Preity Zinta for 100 passes which surprised her. She got a bigger shock when she saw that I had actually got 100 people into the ground," says Sajid proudly. His brother endorses this."The sight of players and fans dancing to your anthem is mind-blowing," says Wajid.
Talent on field
The pair are in the Bollywood composers cricket team with Wajid as the captain. Says Wajid, "We have never lost a match to the singers' team since the last four-five years. Every year, we hold a 20-20 match, which is a dhamaal affair. I have even scored a couple of centuries. I remember a match where Sajidbhai took a hat-trick when things were going haywire." Sajid quips, "I indulge in a bit of sledging, but it's all in fun. I still like to hog the batting as I did as a kid. There has to be some advantage of being the captain's brother!"u00a0
