From Chaiyya Chaiyya to Jai Ho, singer Sukhwinder Singh's journey has been an eventful one. He says he pursued music after a divine dream wherein he saw himself singing. The singer who's now having a 'dream' run tells CS about the milestone songs of his career:

WHO: Singer Sukhwinder Singh
WHAT: Talking about the five milestone songs of his career
WHERE: At his studio

1.Chaiyya Chaiyya (Dil Se)
When I came to Mumbai, I first went to meet Laxmikant- Pyarelal. I was looking forward to working with them, but after Laxmiji death, I felt helpless. Then, I heard Rehman's music and promptly met him. Then Chaiyya Chaiyya happened.

2.Ramta Jogi (Taal)
I have a habit of disappearing without telling anyone.
One day, I took off from a recording studio,, so Subhashji compared me to Ramta Jogi, who was an ascetic and a musician. He started playing a Ramta Jogi tune on the table, and Rehman loved it. The song later became a hit.

3.Ban Thann Chali (Kurukshetra)
This was one of my hits as a composer and a singer. This song had a festive mood to it and caught on with the youth. It was a very folksy number with a great rhythm. At that time, I also did a few other songs for a couple of films.u00a0

4.Chal Chal Mere Sang Sang (Astitva)
Earlier people only associated me with dance numbers. But, this song changed that perception. Chal Chal Mere Sang was a ghazal, soft and melodious; a big challenge for me to compose and sing.

5.Jai Ho (Slumdog Millionaire)
Rehman had approached me with this song much before it was planned for the film. Later he told me that it would feature in Slumdog Millionaire. I didn't get the name of the film and asked, "Which slum, which dog and which millionaire?"u00a0
