While I can't say I love jewellery, I do like viewing jewellery pieces at fashion shows and as a family tradition, we buy on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Jewellery designing is an art, and as a creative person, I do admire the sensibilities of people who make such things of beauty. My favourite stone? Is marbles. I loved playing with marbles as a kid. Sussanne is very fond of jewellery. When I gift her jewellery for her birthday or on our anniversary, I start hunting for the perfect piece from a really long time, at times even a year in advance. I think diamonds look best on her. Sussanne is very sensitive and compassionate, so delicate pieces are perfect for her.u00a0

Well, I just got a pair of diamond earrings from Anil (Thadani) as a Karva Chauth gift. So, I won't be buying heavy jewellery pieces this Dhanteras. However, I might check out some small jewellery items. But I will definitely invest in silverware. I have a silver dinner set, and I want some silver items to accessorise it. So, that's what I am looking to buy on Dhanteras!

I love jewellery and buy it all the time. When Riddhima got married, I handed over a lot of family heirlooms and some of my own chunky jewellery to her, though I've kept some for my bahu too. I've enjoyed wearing chunky, antique pieces, but now I prefer delicate pieces like a solitaire earring. On Dhanteras, we do a puja at home and light up the house with diyas. Every year, I've made it a point to buy something in gold and few things for the kitchen. It's auspicious to buy at least one utensil on Dhanteras.

We do have the tradition of buying jewellery on the occasion of Dhanteras. But Gauri does most of the buying (smiles). I do buy jewellery for my daughter Suhana. Last year, I bought her a couple of diamond studs and she lost them in school. She was very upset, so I got her another pair. Quite often, I buy cosmetic jewellery on flights for her. They're comparatively inexpensive, so it doesn't hurt if she loses them. But I do buy some expensive jewellery pieces for her every year for her future. I am a traditional father, you see!
