Our freedom fighters paved the way for India's independence 66 years ago. CS asked a few celebs to pick their favourite freedom fighters who they would like to portray onscreen
Minissha Lamba
I would love to portray the character of Rani Laxmibai. There would hardly be anybody who wouldn’t have heard the heroic stories of Rani Laxmibai. She was a phenomenal warrior of the Indian freedom struggle. I salute the lady who so bravely fought for something she truly believed in. She is truly an inspiration to the woman of today. Her never-say-die spirit is the thing I love the most about her and something I really look upto.

A patriotic character I would like to play is Bhagat Singh. Since I’m in my 20s, my roots and my language will support the character along with the fact that youth of Punjab idolises Bhagat Singh. No other national herou00a0has such a following till date. You can see his portraits even in the cars in Punjab. Truly epic!
Vidya Balan
Every woman, a housemaid or a corporate leader, who’s managed to live life on her terms impresses me. I would love to be them rather than anyone else. I feel that everyday of their life is a struggle and I salute them.
Arjun Rampal
I would love to play the role of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a very suave and sophisticated person. I feel that Nehru was one of India’s best prime ministers. Nehru’s life was also a very colourful one (laughs out loud). He was a ladies’ man!
Kunal Khemu
Shaheed Bhagat Singh is my idol. I would love to portray him on screen as he was one of the most influential youth icons of his era. He gave up his life at such a young age. He symbolises courage and patriotism in a way that appeals to most of us.
Prakash Raj
Instead of enacting the role of a freedom fighter, I would like to fight for some worthy cause in society. I would like to be a freedom fighter in my own way. u00a0
