The Drummer - Skip-worthy

What's it about:

A brash young drummer is son to a Triad gangster and by that measure, thinks he's invincible. When he fools around with a boss' concubine, he gets into more hot water than he bargained for. His father has him sent off to Taiwan to save his life. Once there, he meets the Zen drummers, who change his outlook on life and his art.

As long as the action remains in Hong Kong, the film is paced well and the story has multi-layered spunky characters, some with dubious loyalties that makes the tale quite interesting

what's not:
u00a0When the action shifts to the sleepy hills of Taiwan, the script meanders and gets waylaid, turns into a love story waiting to happen. Almost like the editor was too moody to care

what to do:
This one takes too long to get to the point. Worth it only for the first half. Skip-worthy.
