Anjali Patil garnered positive acclaim for her portrayal of a gutsy Naxal in Chakravyuh last year.
The film marked her debut in Bollywood but the Nashik-born actress is still true to theatre. Currently shooting for a Kannada film, Anjali is happy with the way her acting career is moving. In a chat with CS, the dusky beauty shares the reason behind her switch from stage to the big screen:

Background story
I learned acting from Pune University where I did my graduation too, but thenu00a0I switched to directing. In fact, I was a gold medalist from PU. Later, I finished my direction course from National School of Drama. In theatre, I realised that I can’t fulfill myself as an actor but I definitely have the knack to direct. I’m too scared to face the crowd, to be frank. I’d do a better job as a director.
Picture perfect
Theatre people will kill me for this but they must be more than happy that I’m doing films. After all, not many students who complete filmmaking courses choose acting for a career! As of now, I’m shooting and have commitments. However, I plan to direct Macbeth someday; that’s my dream project.
Gypsy in me
I’m very much rooted in Nashik and when I’m in Mumbai, I miss my hometown a lot. I’m a ‘Mumbaiya’ for the past one year now. As a result, I have been exploring the city. You get to travel a lot if you are a part of the industry. Being a traveler, I am more than happy working here.u00a0
