Villain in the crowd

Slow and steady, that is how it started as expected on Day 1. We're talking about the buzz at the venue. Front-rowers on first day first show were not strictly celeb kind, though it would have been nice if they had been there to cheer on the younger generation.

Yet, of all the people one spotted Bollywood baddie Ranjeet with colourful headgear and all, keenly soaking in the action on the runway.

As Sabyasachi Mukherjee signed off for the first day with his show, one saw chocolate lady Zeba Kohli and Vikram Raizada in a royal purple shirt in the front row. There was also the relatively rare appearance of three people from three different fashion houses sitting literally side by side. From left to right we had Alka Nishar (Aza), Pradeep Hirani (Kimaya) and Falguni Jhaveri (Fuel). Three's company, apparently no crowd, contrary to the popular adage.

That seemed like a nice sign for the fashion fraternity, which has earned a reputation of being all claws and little camaraderie.
