"I've never had any ambition in life," says the whacky traveller and TV host Ian Wright. Starting a new series, Ian Wright Out of Bounds, for an international lifestyle channel, Ian heads out to explore places that are off the tourist map for most of us. This widely travelled man tries to bore you with road stories, but in vain. The dullest of his tales are highly entertaining. He takes CS for a ride:

When I visit a new place...
The ride from the airport to my destination is the most interesting. You get to take in the town or city you've landed in in a single glimpse. And when I've deposited my baggage in my hotel room, I take myself to a coffee shop or a bar and watch the world go by.
Places that keep calling me...
Anything above the Arctic Circle and I'm dying to go there. Siberia and Greenland are other places that I have loved. Central America is next on my wishlist.
What attracts me to India...
The fact that there are almost 20 countries in one! There's so much diversity as you travel from one region to the next -- food, language, colour, people, landscape. I want to rediscover the interiors, especially the Eastern belt -- Darjeeling, Nagaland etc.
My idea of romantic retreats...
I find Mauritius extremely romantic. The calm waters and beautiful landscapes make for a great setting. There's something very romantic and adventurous about travelling on the Trans-Siberian Express. But then, to me just being with my wife and taking out a boat to sail on a Sunday is equally romantic.
