On Wednesday night, Yash Birla was walking out in a huff from the FHM Manzoni Style Icon Awards 2009 at Taj Lands End, along with friend Gautam Singhania, but was requested to stay backu00a0 by the organisers.
The reason for Birla's consternation was the presence of Vikram Chatwal among the select gathering which included B-Town as well associety folk.
The industrialist was taken aback to find the millionaire hotelier arrive at the venue with Arjun Rampal and his wife Mehr Jessia.
Two months ago, at the birthday party of Natasha Nanda in New Delhi, Chatwal had misbehaved with Yash's wife Avanti.
The following morning, Vikram was packed off to London by the family, who apologised to the Birlas on his behalf. Those close to the Birlas struck Chatwal off their guest list.
This was his first visit to the city after that episode.
Says a source, "Seeing Vikram at the venue irritated Yash and he immediatelyu00a0 walked towards the exit.
Gautam Singhania followed suit as he was aware why Yash had stormed off. Seeing the two making a exit, the organisers made a beeline for them and cajoled them to stay on as Yash was to bag the most stylish industrialist award.
Bhavna Pandey, who had organised the event along with Sharmila Khanna, maintains, "I am unaware if there was any such incident at the event, nor am I aware about the past history of the guests."
Quick recovery
But the source adds, "They did not want to create an unpleasant situation as Vikram had arrived with Arjun Rampal. Everything was taken care of within minutes even before the others realised what was happening."
Among the B-Town folk present were Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle, Dia Mirza, Deepika Padukone, Amrita Arora. Farah Khan anchored the event.
