It was one and a half years ago that Ajay's fan club had taken to their Instagram account to announce the news of the duo collaborating for a Luv Ranjan film. The project was touted to be a quirky relationship drama.

The film remained in the news for several reasons for its lead actress. From Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, many actresses were recommended for this project. However, the Padmaavat actress denied the news facing the wrath of fans waging a war on Twitter for working with a #MeToo accused person. The film's director Luv Ranjan has been accused of sexual misconduct and he found his name mired in the #MeToo controversy. Later, Deepika assured her fans that she will never work with anybody with such accusations.
