What's it about: When a movie draws parallels between inter-caste marriage and the difference in travelling first class and second, you know it's going to be a bumpy ride. Aloo Chat is not just bumpy but also tiring and annoying in parts.
A love story set in a Delhi about a Hindu boy Nikhil (Aftab) wanting to marry a Muslim girl Aamna and break age-old traditions and customs, never rises above predictability and cliches.
The two-hour plus movie tries every trick in the bag and relies on gags that fall flat to entertain and make you laugh. And there's also a sexologist chacha (Manoj Pahwa) whose job is to crack jokes on men's libido, and insinuate some really vulgar statements.
What's hot: Robby Grewal's previous work MP3: Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar was a decent attempt at making a teenage love story. Definitely inspired or wanting to desperately duplicate Hrishikesh Mukherjee's school of work, the director raises a few chuckles when he tries to attempt something original.
