Anil Kapoor has been signed on to play a Middle Eastern leader in American TV show, 24. The actor starts shooting for the latest season of the show next month.
Written into contract
Interestingly, Anil has made it clear he will work with his personal crew including his make-up man on the show.

"I plan to work there with the same approach as I do here. I have told them that my own make-up guy, Deepak will accompany me.

They may have their own people, but I plan to work with the same team that has been with me over the years. In fact, it's even mentioned in my contract."
Talking about how he got the show, Anil says, "24 came to me because of Slumdog Millionaire.

I've started watching the show from the first season onwards and plan to finish with the seventh by the time I start shooting for the show.

I have heard that 24 is a cult show, syndicated in over 83 countries. It's really exciting for me to be able to do something like this.

In 24, I play a positive character; that was the first thing I made clear. After Slumdog, I didn't want to play another negative character. I start shooting May-end."

However, before saying yes to the producers, Anil asked for opinions from his kids and their friends. "I obviously ended up asking them as I always do. I asked Sonam, Rhea and Harsh's friends and they all said I shouldn't miss this opportunity.
My children said that even if I had to pay them (the producers), I had to do it!"
Describing working in 24 as having fun, Anil says, "Personally, if you ask me, I am doing this because it's an adventure of sorts. It's something I have never done before.
I have never endorsed any product, nor have I done TV shows. I took a different approach that got me where I am today.
But when this opportunity came, I decided I would take it up so I can study and understand their work culture.
Slumdog Millionaire was an international film but it was shot in India. So there was a comfort zone. When 24 came to me, I decided I had to try this out.
I have decided to enjoy it. I am ready to fail. I might fall flat on my face, or fail but I am doing it because I believe in it."
What's 24?
24 is an American TV series of the action drama genre. 24 is presented in real time, with each season depicting a 24-hour period in the life of Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland), who works with the United States government as it fights domestic threats.
