Twitter seemed to be on overdrive against Bollywood singers. The vitriol started on Sunday and continued on Monday. And so it was that Twitterati ended up trolling three playbakc singers over the two days.
Of course, in a couple of instances, the singers did give them cause.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya
Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya stirred up a controversy by calling an army veteran "Pak supporter" after he condemned the viral video that emerged of a civilian being tied to the bonnet of an Indian army jeep in Kashmir as a 'human shield' against stone-pelters.
Abhijeet went on a hate-filled rant against retired Lieutenant General Harcharanjit Singh Panag, the former Commanding officer of the Northern Command and Central Command of the Indian Army and a multiple gallantry award recipient.
He posted, "U r a Pak supporter, wish you were kicked, beaten & humiliated on the streets of Kashmir & then wd hv seen ur reaction."

The there was Adnan Sami Khan. The Bollywood singer, who is now an Indian citizen, was abused by Pakistani Twitterati for supporting India.
Adnan Sami
Reacting to the Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel's purported disinterest in expanding business to "poor countries" like India, Sami tweeted that he would uninstall the Snapchat application.
This got Pakistanis riled up, who took to social media to bash the singer.
Just uninstalled #snapchat .. You guys @Snapchat can kiss our 1.2 billion 'poor' progressive bottoms!
— Adnan Sami (@AdnanSamiLive) April 16, 2017
Adnan resorted the trolls with, "Dear Pak trolls, My tweet wasn’t bout U. It was about Snapchat. Stop trying 2 jump in & b relevant like a jilted lover! Get over it. Jai Hind!"
All this took place on Sunday. But Monday was also eventful.
Monday saw leading singer Sonu Nigam lashing out after being woken up by the 'azaan' from a nearby mosque, triggering a torrent of reaction from Twitterati.
Sonu Nigam
The "Kal ho naa ho" singer posted: "God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India?"

— Sonu Nigam (@sonunigam) April 16, 2017
Nigam explained his stance in a long Twitter post.
"And by the way, (Prophet) Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam... Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?
"I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don't follow the religion. Why then..? Honest? True? Gundagardi hai, bus."
He tagged Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
"Dear Fadnavis, please note and help us force police to act against illegal blaring of azaan and other such activities," the singer pleaded.
As Nigam's views went viral, reactions poured in from all over India.

— Maya (@IamMayaSharma) April 17, 2017
In fact it's the Hindu temple loud speakers which are the biggest sound pollution nuisance for even believing Hindus.
— Anamika (@AnaMyID) April 17, 2017
I see symbols of Hindu faith everywhere in public spaces, isn't that 'forced religiousness'? @sonunigam
— Anamika (@AnaMyID) April 17, 2017
@sonunigam Sure, can we also stop all festivals from coming on the streets, encroachment, noise & processions going fwd?Would that be possible/practical?
