R Madhavan-starrer Decoupled composer Rachita Arora establishes the need to create subdued soundtracks for the comic genre

Netflix will being the fresh pairing of R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla to screen with Decoupled, the story of a couple that has decided to part ways. The storyline can be deceiving in establishing the nature of the offering, a comedy that composer Rachita Arora describes as “neither loud nor animated”.
“Working for a comedy poses its own challenges. This project needed a different approach. When you have a comic scene unfolding on screen, you don’t require overpowering music to establish that it is meant to be funny. In fact, an over-powering soundtrack may [ruin] the experience,” says the young composer, who has worked on films like Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Manga Saavdhan (2017), and Newton (2017), starring Rajkummar Rao.
