Gulshan Devaiah thrilled to portray a cop as he collaborates with director Reema Kagti on the crime thriller, Fallen

With Fallen, Gulshan Devaiah has ticked two items off his wish list—working with Reema Kagti and playing an on-screen cop. Considering a cop hero is almost a staple in Bollywood, the actor is surprised that his 11-year career didn’t offer the opportunity to don a khaki uniform until now. “Earlier, I had come awfully close to essaying the role of a cop, but it did not materialise. Finally, I am glad my silly little desire of donning the khaki uniform is fulfilled. I must say I look good in the uniform,” he laughs.
The thriller, which marks Sonakshi Sinha’s digital debut, had gone on floors in February 2020 in Rajasthan. The shoot had to come to an abrupt halt when the lockdown was imposed in March. It was only after an anxious wait of nine months that the cast and crew headed back to the desert state in December. If the taut plot of the crime series has him fascinated, Devaiah is equally impressed with Kagti’s sharp instincts. “As an artiste, I perfectly understand what she is trying to say in a scene. Similarly, she gets what I am trying to do in front of the camera. It’s a perfect actor-director relationship,” states the actor, a self-confessed fan of the director’s works. The Amazon Prime Video offering sees Kagti share directorial responsibilities with Ruchika Oberoi.
