Out in the open

Abhay Deol and artist Shilo Shiv Suleman made their relationship Insta official by sharing mushy pictures. Suleman, who is also an activist and poet, is known for her installation art. The actor wrote that she’s “sexy, fearless, calming and talented.” In response to his post, Suleman replied, “Nothing taboo on this table... more adventures soon.” Deol was earlier in a relationship with One By Two (2014) co-star and Miss Great Britain Preeti Desai.

Jodhpur jaunt

Speculation is rife that Ranbir Kapoor is celebrating his 39th birthday in Rajasthan today. What has added credence to the buzz is that the actor and ladylove Alia Bhatt were spotted making an exit at Jodhpur airport on Sunday. There is chatter that the two are also scouting for venues at the various palace hotels for a possible destination wedding. With Bhatt repeatedly making visits to check out the ongoing work at RK’s Pali Hill abode, Raj Krishna, those in the know say a wedding is on the cards soon. Rajasthan appears to be their go-to destination. The lovebirds had ushered in 2021 in Ranthambore.

Famjam time

The senior Kapoors got together to make Neila Kapoor’s birthday special. Shammi Kapoor’s wife hosted a bash, which was attended by Neetu Kapoor, Babita, Randhir Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, Rima and Manoj Jain. Jatin Sial, the grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, shared a click and wrote, “A grand family get-together, thanks Neila aunty,” he wrote.

All messed up

Kangana Ranaut revealed that physical transformations for Thalaivii “messed up many things” in her body and left her with “permanent stretch marks”. She gained 20 kilos in six months and then knocked it off. “Art comes to life at a price, and the price is the artiste,” she wrote. Kangy needs a break.

Date is fixed

Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham, starring Vicky Kaushal, will drop digitally on October 16, just ahead of the reopening of theatres in the state on October 22.  On Monday, Amazon Prime Video announced the release date. The film chronicles the lesser-known story of the revolutionary, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Kaushal shared the teaser on Instagram. “On the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, I am proud to bring to you the story of his ally, Sardar Udham Singh,” the actor wrote.

I-Day clash

Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan and Prabhas-starrer Adipurush are clashing on Independence Day weekend 2022. The makers of the two films were eyeing a favourable release window and decided on the same date (August 11) to make the most of the long weekend.

On a high

Singers Asees Kaur and Renuka Panwar have made it to a Times Square billboard. The two, who released the Hindi version of the Haryanvi hit single, 52 gaj ka daman, bagged the honour as part of Spotify’s global music programme fostering equality for female singers.

Kaur, who rendered the Raataan lambiyan track in Shershaah, says, “It reinstates my belief that good music will always have takers.”

Golden mark

Jaya Bachchan quietly clocked 50 years in the industry. Though she made her acting debut when she was barely in her teens in Satyajit Ray’s Bengali film Mahanagar (1963), her first Hindi film outing was Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi, which hit screens on September 24, 1971. The veteran actor-politician has been away from the movies. She returns with Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

Anushka’s back at work

Anushka Sharma, who was accompanying cricketer husband Virat Kohli on the England tour and later for the IPL in Dubai, is back in Mumbai. Though she had been away since June, she quickly resumed work. On Monday, she was snapped arriving for the shoot of a brand endorsement. The actor flaunted her new short hairdo. Celebrity hairstylist George Northwood had given her a new look on Sonam K Ahuja’s recommendation.

A date to remember

Kartik Aaryan wants Bollywood and cinema-goers to observe September 26 as Happy Announcement Day. The actor is known for his wit and humour on social media. A day after the state government allowed cinema halls to reopen next month, Bollywood folk got busy. On Sunday, several producers, especially of big-budget films, announced the release dates of their projects. The spate of announcements, which continued on Monday, made Aaryan quip that apart from “keeping the popcorn ready,” he wanted cinema lovers to remember the date and celebrate it every year.
