After Imran Khan shared a post on mental health on Instagram, his rumoured estranged wife Avantika Malik seemingly took a dig at him

Have you heard? Post, counter-post

Avantika Malik and Imran Khan

Imran Khan and Avantika Malik’s divorce appears to have caused an irreparable rift in their equation. Recently, the actor, who is slated to make a comeback in front of the camera, shared a post about mental health and coping with misery and pain for a considerable part of his life. “When you have lived so long in darkness, the sunshine can feel unbearably bright at first,” he wrote. Conceding that it seemed unnatural to be flooded with so many messages of love, support, and encouragement, he added, “I couldn’t absorb that much positivity, so instead, I went looking for the ugly words, the hurtful ones that sound more like the voice in my head, because that feels more familiar to me.” Now, estranged wife Avantika seems to have taken a dig at Imran, with her post that read, “I will judge you by the way you treat me, not by the bullshit moral characteristics you claim to have, but don’t.  — Maria Consigillo.” In another post, she wrote, “In the end, people always have a way of revealing who they are. You just have to give them space and time to do so. No mask can be worn forever.” Let’s see what Imran has to say to that now.

Acing it with Govinda

Raveena Tandon graces the stage of India’s Best Dancer 3 as the special guest this weekend. During the Dance Diva special episode, the actor shared that she has a bunch of amazing friends in the industry. “From the enchanting Madhuri Dixit-Nene to the ever-graceful Shilpa Shetty Kundra. But if I had to pick one ride-or-die, it would have to be the one and only Govinda, aka Chi Chi,” she said. Talking about their shared love for music and dance, Raveena added, “My comic timing improved significantly because of Chi Chi. Even in our dance collaborations, we were lightning-fast — we completed shooting Kissi disco mein jaayein in just one-and-a-half days, and Akhiyon se goli maare in a single day!” The two actors had a ‘healthy rivalry’ in front of the camera, as she revealed, “If he aced a shot, I had to give my best. Our chemistry was pure magic, fueled by our energy and a sprinkle of healthy competition.”

Annoucement on Akki’s b’day

Talk in the trade circles is that producer Firoz Nadiadwala and director Ahmed Khan are looking to announce their film,  Welcome to the Jungle, on Akshay Kumar’s birthday (September 9). According to a source, “The grand announcement will be like a gift from the makers — the third Welcome film to Akki and his fans. Set against a military action backdrop, the film boasts a huge star cast that also includes a couple of surprises.”

Chalo Toronto

After losing a couple of years to the pandemic, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s joint venture, Laapataa Ladies is back on track and how! The comedy drama, which marks Kiran’s next directorial venture after Dhobi Ghat (2010) is finally slated to arrive in cinemas on January 5, 2024.

But before that, the quirky film, that revolves around brides missing from the train before their wedding, will première at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival tonight. The update was shared by Aamir’s production house on social media, saying, “Ab milega laapataa ladies ka pataa.” The movie features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan in lead roles.

Of train travels and memories

In an upcoming episode of India’s Got Talent, Farah Khan, Kirron Kher and Badshah will reminisce about their train travels. Farah will be seen recalling her overnight train travel with Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Mani Ratnam for the shoot of Chaiyya chaiyya for Dil Se, saying, “We covered ourselves completely so that people wouldn’t recognise us. By the time we reached, everyone knew SRK was on board. On every platform, thousands of people were waiting to see him.” Badshah shared getting introduced to AR Rahman’s music during his south Indian tour with his father. He said, “It was the first time I saw a walkman. I fell in love with Rahman sir from that moment on, when I heard the Kadhalan song, Oorvasi Oorvasi, on the walkman.”

Thanks, but no thanks

Malayalam superstar Mammootty turned 72 yesterday. On one hand, his sinister look in his next, Bramayugam is making news, and on the other hand, reports are rife that Dulquer Salmaan has declined to play his reel son in the sequel to Yatra (2019). The biopic revolves around the life of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Yatra 2 is said to be based on his son, current AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Sources attribute his polite refusal to his apprehension that portraying a political personality on screen could adversely affect his career. Latest reports indicate that Jeeva is being roped in to play the protagonist based on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Yatra 2.
