Childhood love, anyone?

Even as Rajkummar Rao is currently working on Stree 2 with Shraddha Kapoor, he has reportedly finalised his next movie. This time around, he will be teaming up with Vaani Kapoor for a small-town love story, to be produced by Anubhav Sinha. Aptly titled Bachpan Ka Pyaar, the quirky love story set in Lucknow will be helmed by writer-director Apurva Dhar Badgaiyann, who made his debut with the romcom, Chaman Bahaar (2020), starring Jitendra Kumar. Raj and Vaani are slated to begin filming next month. Incidentally, this is the Bheed actor’s third collaboration with Sinha, and Vaani’s first. While Raj also has Guns & Gulaabs, and Mr and Mrs Mahi, Vaani has Sarvagunn Sampanna and Mandala Murders lined up.

Chalo OTT

We know that Shanaya Kapoor makes her big-screen debut with Mohanlal’s next pan-India period action drama, Vrushaba. Now, we hear that she will make her OTT debut with Karan Johar’s production, Student of the Year 3. Reportedly, the filmmaker is turning the movie franchise into an web series. This development seems to serve dual purpose for KJo. Firstly, it boosts Shanaya’s career after Bedhadak, his launchpad for her, Lakshya and Gurfateh Pirzada failed to take off. Secondly, the filmmaker plans to introduce a steady flow of new faces with the Student franchise in the OTT space.

Bhumi Pednekar will be conferred with the Disruptor Award by the Victorian government at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. On the one hand, she has carved unique space with films like Bheed, Badhaai Do, Bala and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. And on the other hand, she has been in the forefront for the cause of climate change and sustainability. The actor, who will receive the award on the festival’s opening day, August 11, will be the special guest for the fireside chat with a live audience on sustainability, further cementing her role as a catalyst for change. Grateful for the honour, Bhumi says that this recognition means a lot to her. She elaborates, “Through the films and roles I take up, the causes that I support and stand up for and for everything I do to champion climate conservation, this is exactly what I strive for — to live a life of impact. I aim at changing society for the better, by championing representation of women in cinema and fighting for gender inclusivity, and working towards achieving environmental stability.”

Vatsal Sheth and Ishita Dutta welcomed their first child on Wednesday. The new parents shared a picture from the hospital yesterday, captioned: “Us. We have been blessed with a baby boy. Thank you all for the love and wishes.” They didn’t share their newborn’s face, and masked it with a heart. Ishita and the baby were doing well. They will be discharged from the hospital today. “Their families are over the moon to welcome the newest member,” said a source.

Mrunal Thakur, who forayed into Telugu cinema with Sita Ramam last year, recently announced her third film in the language. This time around, she pairs up with Vijay Deverakonda for director Parasuram’s next. “I’m looking forward to working with Vijay as I do know that we can learn together and from each other as actors,” she says. They have begun prep for the film that rolls soon. All praise for the Liger actor, she adds, “Whatever roles Vijay does on screen, he has this ability to bring this spark on screen when he’s in front of the camera.”

What makes India’s Got Talent season 10 special for Kirron Kher is that she has been judging the show since the onset. Proud of her long association, the veteran actor says, “Over the years, the show has evolved not only to become a national platform that defines talent in its true form, but also has put India’s talent on the global map.”

At the San Diego Comic Con, Rana Daggubati announced his new production venture, Hiranyakashyap. He also shared that Trivikram Srinivas will direct the movie, which is based on the demon king who was slain by the Narsimha avatar of Lord Vishnu. Not many know that it was Shaakunthalam director Gunasekhar’s dream project, and despite several delays, he hoped to make it with Rana some day. Not suprising then that the actor’s recent announcement hasn’t gone down well with Gunasekhar. While not naming anyone, the director tweeted, “While making God the central theme of your story, you must also keep in mind that God keeps an eye on your integrity. Unethical acts will be answered through ethical means.” Let’s see what Rana and Trivikram say to that in the coming days.

The rains in the north have thwarted plans of many filmmakers. Director Ajay Bahl had four days’ shoot of The Lady Killer, starring Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, in Uttarakhand. However, the weather played spoilsport in their plans. The makers can’t look for an alternative as the location plays a key role in this crime thriller, which has been shot extensively in the north. Since the remaining scenes are to be picturised outdoors, the makers had no option but to reschedule the shoot. Sources claim that the shoot will be completed next month. “Hopefully, we will have favourable weather conditions. And after this four-day shoot, it will be a wrap on the film,” says an informer.
