Have you heard? Janhvi Kapoor to join Vijay Deverakonda’s new mission?

Vijay Deverakonda and Janhvi Kapoor

Even as his Hindi debut, Liger, is being readied for an August release, Vijay Deverakonda is set to team up again with director Puri Jagannadh and producer Charmee Kaur. Sharing a picture, Charmee wrote, “A new mission is ready to take off. Next Mission Launch on 29-03-2022 (sic).” While they will share details of the project this afternoon, sources claim that this new mission could well be Jana Gana Mana, Puri’s long-cherished project. Buzz is that this film will be set in Mumbai. What’s more, it could star Janhvi Kapoor as Vijay’s leading lady. After Ananya Panday in Liger, it appears that the south sensation will team up with another Karan Johar protege.

Waiting to excel

Vaani Kapoor, who plays a key role in Shamshera, feels that Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021) smashed the notion that she is fit only to play a gorgeous heroine on screen. “It has given me a perfect platform to showcase the actor that I want to be. I’m ready to take any risk on screen to constantly prove to myself and others that I choose not to be limited as an artiste,” she says. Vaani states that she doesn’t want to do similar roles. “I want to explore, excel and be remembered for being an actor who could do anything on screen,” she adds.

Family drama in Delhi

Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma is currently in New Delhi, shooting for his next film, Gulmohar, with Manoj Bajpayee, Sharmila Tagore and Kaveri Seth. Helmed by debutant Rahul Chittella, the family drama looks at the last few days leading up to Holi when the Batra clan moves out of their three-decade old home. Suraj plays the eldest son of the family, who shares a quiet and admirable relationship with his father, played by Manoj. Off screen, the two actors have developed a friendly bond and often discuss cinema.

Vidyut joins biopic brigade

Vidyut Jammwal has signed director Shree Narayan Singh’s next, Sher Singh Raana. An edge-of-the-seat thriller, the film is a biopic on Sher Singh Rana, who escaped Tihar jail — where he was sentenced for the vendetta assassination of dacoit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi — and undertook a dangerous journey to bring back the ashes of 11th century Rajput ruler, Prithviraj Chauhan, from Afghanistan. Vidyut says, “Destiny connected the dots when the role of the fearless Sher Singh Rana came to me.”

Now, Akshay eyes Eid outing

Even as Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 and Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 are set for a box-office clash this Eid, Akshay Kumar is entering the fray. The Khiladi’s Mission Cinderella, however, is taking the direct-to-digital route.  A remake of the Tamil hit, Ratsasan (2018), the film is reportedly slated to premiere on a major OTT platform on April 29.

Another trailer on the way

Ajay Devgn is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that his upcoming directorial venture, Runway 34, grabs eyeballs. After unveiling the film’s first trailer recently, the actor-filmmaker is readying his second promo now. We hear it will be played in cinemas with KGF: Chapter 2, which releases on April 14. Ajay hopes the new promo will up the hype surrounding the aviation thriller that also stars Amitabh Bachchan.

A year of twogetherness

It has been a year since Kim Sharma started dating former Indian tennis player, Leander Paes. To mark the occasion, she shared a series of pictures and videos with him, saying, “Happy anniversary Charles. 365 days! Endless moments of happiness and learnings. Thank you for being mine. Love you to bits — Mich (sic).”

Mixing song and action

Song and action don’t go together. Right? Wrong. Ask John Abraham who had a fight sequence choreographed for a song in Attack: Part 1. The actor-producer recently said that when they set out to make the movie, he categorically told director Lakshya Raj Anand that he didn’t want run-of-the-mill songs. “I think this is the first time in Hindi cinema where a fight sequence is choreographed for a song,” he has been quoted as saying.
