An act put up by a comic who was mimicking him on a reality show was in “exceptionally poor taste”, said Karan Johar, who came across the clip when he was watching television with his mother. Although he did not drop names, Johar, it appeared, was referring to Kettan Singh, who featured in the show Madness Machayenge, helmed by Huma Qureshi. Soon after Johar shared his displeasure, netizens were quick to point out that the filmmaker had, on several occasions, mimicked other stars on a chat show that he hosts, which made his inability to find humour in a comic act based on him inappropriate. Singh, however, was quick to respond with an apology, stating that he was a “huge fan” of the director. Johar, who had lamented that a director of his stature who “has been in the business for over 25 years” had to endure the trolling, said he wasn’t angered but saddened. He even shared a message posted by Ekta Kapoor, who wrote in his support.
