2 Indias and a clarification

 Vir Das

Under attack for his monologue, I come from two Indias, stand up comic Vir Das issued a clarification regarding his recently uploaded video on YouTube, part of his performance at the John F Kennedy Center in Washington. He spoke about the contrasting sides of India by taking a dig at issues like the battle against COVID-19, gang rapes and farmers’ protests. “The video is a satire about the duality of two Indias that do different things. Like any nation has light and dark, good and evil within it. None of this is a secret,” the statement posted by Das read. “The video appeals for us to never forget that we are great. To never stop focusing on what makes us great,” he added. Several social media users, including politicians, have mocked Das for insulting the country in a foreign land.
