Veteran producer Inder Kumar Bahl, who bankrolled films like 'Dream Girl' (1977) and 'Shaukeen' (1982) passed away at the age of 91. He breathed his last on February 23 at his Mumbai residence in Juhu. As per Radio City, Bahl was unwell for a while and was undergoing dialysis. is survived by his wife, Suwarsh, and two sons, Bunty and Vicky Bahl, who are a part of the media industry.

Bunty told the portal in a statement, "He led a life of grandeur, offering us the gift of freedom, knowledge, liberties, and love throughout his lifetime. Remarkably optimistic and profoundly sensible, he approached every situation with a positive mindset, focusing on solutions rather than contributing to the problem. Never once did he harbour ill thoughts or intentions towards anyone in his life. Always a generous soul with a perpetually smiling face. A person of great goodwill and reputation, he was the keeper of secrets."
According to a post shared by Bunty on Instagram, the family members have organised a prayer meet on February 26 (today) between 5 pm and 6 pm at Iskcon in Juhu.

For those unversed, I.K. Bahl was veteran actress Hema Malini's secretary for several years. He co-produced 'Dream Girl' with her mother Jaya Chakravarty. It also featured Dharmendra and its titular song became a hit giving Hema the coveted title.
Bahl also produced ‘Swami’ in the same year. Directed by Basu Chatterjee, the film starred Shabana Azmi and Girish Karnad. It revolves around a woman who falls in love but is married off to another man, who helps her adjust to an unfamiliar household and becomes her confidence over time.
In 1982 he produced another film of Chatterjee titled ‘Shaukeen’. It starred Rati Agnihotri and Mithun Chakraborty among others.
In 2006, Bahl produced the film ‘Banaras’ directed by Pankaj Parashar. It featured Urmila Matondkar and Dimple Kapadia.
Besides that, Bahl also directed a television show titled ‘Darpan’ in collaboration with Chatterjee.
Additionally, Bahl directed a television show called 'Darpan,' under the direction of Basu Chaterjee. It starred Pankaj Kapur, Zarina Wahab, Annu Kapoor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and K.K. Raina among others.
