Not irked with ‘OTT actor’ tag, Paatal Lok actor Ishwak says he’d rather focus on his craft

Delivering performances that have consistently earned acclaim in the web space, Ishwak Singh finds himself prepping for a long list of shows. Set to feature in the second instalments of Rocket Boys and Paatal Lok, he will also be seen in the spy thriller, Berlin, and in Bas Karo Aunty.

The last of the lot, a Nitesh Tiwari production, is a prominent film for Singh.

“The great thing about him, and all the masters I have worked with till now, is that they empower people.

Initially, I would sit with Nitesh sir to prep for the film, and eventually he gave me the freedom to create the character as I chose to. His writing is honest, relatable and well-researched.”

While actors who prominently feature in one industry are displeased to be labelled as actors belonging to that platform alone, Singh has no qualms in being referred to as an ‘OTT actor’.

“I see it as part of the transition. When I moved to Mumbai, my friends would introduce me as a theatre actor. I don’t subscribe to these designations, though. I call myself an actor. People are used to labelling and bracketing individuals anyway.“
