Opts to produce a film rather than share the limelight with Priyanka Chopra

Now that Priyanka Chopra will play a pivotal character in Anurag Basu's Khamoshi, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif has backed out of the film. It seems when Anurag had signed Katrina for the project, he had not mentioned the fact that he would be signing another actress for an important role. So when Katrina heard about Priyanka joining the cast, she decided to not be a part of a trio, which would only add fuel to the rumour mills.

Fortunately for her, her long-standing wish came true at the same time. Katrina had been trying to acquire the rights to remake a French film for a long time and the deal has finally come through. She wanted to get started on the project immediately and would have been able to do that only if she gave up one of her current assignments. With work on Tees Maar Khan and Dostana 2 begun, Khamoshi was the obvious choice.
